Think of it as reduction the proliferative capacity of the mandibular condyle.
ERa functions differently. It regulates fibrocartilage, collagen org, proteoglycan homeostasis and condylar tissue architecture
That's why ovariectomy increased Mandibular Condylar cartilage growth in studies. It wasn't because 'Estrogen' is bad but reducing ovarian estrogen exposure decreased ERB mediated antiproliferative singaling allowing greater Sox9 positive chondroprogenitor within mandibular condyle.
